Gate Manager is a web application that governs directional RFID gates. It monitors tag transits in real time, recognizes direction (IN or OUT), and publishes events to external systems via MQTT. Configurable, reliable, and designed to run locally — installed near the gate, always on.

Operators monitor transits in real time from the Movements dashboard. Administrators configure the reader, antennas, and directional algorithm. Processing runs locally — no latency on transit detection — while data is then forwarded to the cloud via a configurable MQTT connection.

HOW IT WORKS

Four capabilities that make a directional RFID gate work reliably: from hardware setup to event delivery.

  1. 01 — Gate configuration

    Reader, antennas, two zones

    Gate Manager connects to the RFID reader via LLRP and manages two antenna zones — IN and OUT. TX power, RX sensitivity, session, search mode, and RF profile are all configurable from the UI.

  2. 02 — Transit detection

    Trigger, read, decide direction

    When a tag enters the field, the directional algorithm opens a read window, collects antenna readings from both zones, and determines direction by comparing first-seen timestamps. Confidence score included.

  3. 03 — Event publishing

    Every transit, one MQTT message

    Validated transit events are published in real time to a configurable MQTT broker — with EPC, direction, confidence, antenna sequence, and timestamp. Structured, traceable, ready to consume.

  4. 04 — Diagnostic & monitoring

    Raw reads, live, for troubleshooting

    The Diagnostic section streams raw reader data in real time — independent from Movements. Use it to verify antenna coverage, RSSI levels, and tag visibility before going live.
